I’m eight months into topiramate now. The baseline headache is genuinely lower, and combined with Aimovig since late March, there’s real progress. But the brain fog my neurologist said would clear around month two? It never did.
Numbers take longer. I’ll be teaching and lose a word mid-sentence, then it comes back five seconds later. Sometimes I don’t recover it that day. I honestly can’t tell if it’s the drug or the disease catching up anymore - and I think that distinction matters less than I wanted it to.
The frustrating part: I log it religiously. I track the slow days, the clear-ish days, the days where maths is just unavailable. But the data doesn’t actually tell me if this is permanent or a waiting game I’m losing. Is anyone else months in (6, 8, 10+) and still cloudy?
Does it actually improve, or does your brain eventually just… adapt and you stop noticing?
