When baseline never stops, what counts as a migraine day

so i’ve got this constant 2-3/10 headache on my right side that just doesn’t go away between attacks. it’s there when i wake up, it’s there when i go to bed. then on top of that, i get a real migraine attack and the pain shoots up to 7-8/10 with aura and i’ve got maybe 10 minutes to abort it or i’m done for the day. when i’m filling out my migraine diary for my neuro, what do i actually count?

do i mark every day because the baseline is always there? or only the attack days where i needed to abort? i’ve started logging prodrome phases to get more specific data - like exactly when the aura hits - but when my neuro asks “how many migraine days this month,” i genuinely don’t know if she wants the 8 real attack days or the 28 days where the baseline was present but i functioned. neither number feels like it’s actually telling her anything useful about whether my preventive is working.

curious if anyone else tracks this way. do you count the baseline days, or just the ones where you actually needed medication?
