What’s helping me feel better with pulmonary hypertension

Living with pulmonary hypertension has taught me that even the smallest habits can have a huge impact. Staying active—but not overdoing it—helps keep my energy up and my heart strong. Low-impact exercises like walking or stretching make a difference, and tracking my activity helps me stay consistent. Nutrition is another big one. Sticking to a heart-healthy, low-sodium diet helps with fluid retention and keeps my body feeling its best. It took some trial and error, but making mindful food choices has definitely improved how I feel day to day.

Stress is another thing I’ve had to learn to manage because it can make symptoms worse. Deep breathing, meditation, and even just making time to unwind have helped me feel more in control. And of course, staying on top of my meds and regular check-ups is non-negotiable. Using a health tracker makes it so much easier to manage everything without feeling overwhelmed. It’s not always easy, but prioritizing self-care has helped me feel stronger, more balanced, and more in tune with my body.
