What no one tells you about lupus & eyelid rashes! ;)

My uncle’s a doctor, and he once told me that lupus-related eyelid rashes happen because the immune system gets a little too excited and starts attacking the skin. He said it’s super common with lupus, especially if you have photosensitivity, and sun exposure can make it worse. Apparently, inflammation is the main culprit, and that’s why treatments like hydroxychloroquine, corticosteroid creams, and even just being extra careful with skincare can help.

He also mentioned that avoiding triggers—like harsh skincare products, stress, and too much sun—can keep things from flaring up. It’s not just about treating the rash when it happens but also about preventing it in the first place. Skincare with SPF, gentle cleansers, and even anti-inflammatory foods can make a difference. Thought I’d share because this stuff isn’t talked about enough!
