Was my fatigue flare cycle related? ymmv

i was actually feeling kinda good today, like maybe better than i’ve been in weeks. managed a solid 45 min walk w/o stopping or needing meds, and even got all the receipts done for work. so i felt like i finally broke through something.

but by dinner, my hands were throbbing worse than they were last month - like genuine joint pain again, not just stiffness. and now this total crash of fatigue that nothing seems to fix with sleep. i’m confused bc the ‘good’ stretch was real until a few hours ago.

does anyone else notice flare spikes like this - right after feeling normal for a couple of days?

classic post-exertional symptom flare

so that feeling of having ‘broke through something’ is a powerful and very real moment of hope, and I understand why you’d frame it that way. Where I’d push back gently is the idea that the crash was a separate, random event.

Often, in conditions with this kind of fatigue pattern, the exertion on the ‘good’ day - even something as positive as a 45 minute walk - is the direct trigger for the pain and fatigue flare that follows hours later. It’s less a random spike and more of a predictable, delayed consequence of exceeding a certain energy threshold.

The distinction matters because it reframes the goal from chasing breakthroughs to carefully managing energy even on the days you feel well.
