Tryptase testing timing confusing for anyone else

randomly was wondering about mast cell testing, specifically tryptase. i know it’s all complicated and the docs tell you to time everything perfectly,
but are we talking like hours? does fasting change things or is it just what your day looked like before/after the blood draw?

my allergist keeps mentioning that if a flare happens right before the appt, the number might be skewed… which makes sense on paper but i feel like my timing matters way more than they are letting on. i spent last week dealing with some pretty bad flushing and mild urticaria flares b/w work and dinner.

should i worry about that showing up as a significant spike if it was too close to the blood draw? how much is ‘too close’ for this stuff?
