i tracked my cycle for like 8 months straight. logged everything - length, LH surge timing, temps, how i felt. when my doctor finally saw the data, she believed me about the anovulation instead of just saying “irregular cycles happen.” the tracking worked. i got diagnosed, got on spironolactone, labs shifted.
but here’s what nobody tells you - once you start tracking, stopping feels impossible. a 38-day cycle and i’m immediately wondering if that’s the pattern or just noise. so now i’m wondering if the tracking actually helped or if i just traded “my body is confusing” anxiety for “what does my data mean” anxiety. the diagnosis happened because of the tracking.
but the mental load of staying aware of every variation? that’s a different kind of exhausting. does it get easier once you stop looking? or does anyone else find that tracking is the only way you feel like you have any control, even if it’s not real control?
