I think I’m overthinking this, but I’d really like to understand how others manage it. The guidance says to take your abortive during prodrome, which makes sense, but in practice the window feels impossibly narrow. If I’m even 15-20 minutes late, it either doesn’t work or I end up with a rebound headache the next day. Take it too early, assuming I’m having prodrome when I’m really just stressed, and I feel like I’m wasting a dose. imo I’ve been tracking for three months and noticed something: my migraines cluster in a specific 6-day window every cycle (hormonal), and during that window the timing becomes even more critical - like my body won’t respond to the triptan unless I catch it at exactly the right moment. Outside that window, the timing matters less. So here’s my actual question: do you take your abortive based on how you feel, or do you wait for a specific symptom? And for those of you with hormonal migraines or other patterns, does the timing get even tighter during your high-risk window? I know there might not be a perfect answer, but I’m curious if anyone else has mapped this out, or if I’m just being dramatic about the precision required.
