Telling your boss you have MS

so, you’re wondering if you have to tell your employer. legally? probably not unless you need accommodations. practically, it’s messier. tbh i work delivery. when my fatigue gets bad or heat intolerance kicks in, Uhthoff’s is brutal, i can’t hide that i’m struggling. my boss needed to know what was actually going on instead of just “i’m off today.” telling him meant he understood why some days i’m slower, why summer routes get harder. the fear is real. you worry they’ll fire you or treat you different. some employers do. mine was okay with it once i explained what MS actually is. what helped: brought documentation from my neuro. showed him i was managing it with DMT and had a plan. didn’t need to dump everything about MRI findings. just: here’s what i have, here’s what i might need, i’m not asking for special treatment, just honesty. it’s different for everyone depending on your job and employer. but if you tell them, come with facts, not fear. did you end up telling work, or keep it private?
