Struggling with Recurring Worms: Seeking Answers and Solutions

I feel really embarrassed about this situation. I’ve had worms since I was around 13 and have been treated for it multiple times. Now in my early twenties, they seem to reappear during my period. Could this mean they’ve spread to my uterus? I’m very clean—almost OCD about it. I use antibacterial products, wash my bedding regularly, use a different towel each day, boil wash my clothes, and sanitize before eating. I’m at a loss about what to do, especially since no one else in my family has this problem.

Hi Sarah!

I’m glad to hear you’re taking steps to manage the worms, but it’s crucial to identify exactly what type they are. Are you sure they’re threadworms, or could they be something else? Some mites have a worm-like stage and can seriously affect their host, causing skin issues.

I want to address your concerns about the possibility of having worms in your uterus. Parasites can sometimes transfer during intercourse, potentially laying eggs in the uterus. This could explain your ongoing issue since age 13, and it doesn’t imply any wrongdoing on your part.

There are thousands of parasites, including various mites, and understanding what you’re dealing with is vital. Have you ever taken a specimen to a lab for analysis? Mites evolve rapidly and can reproduce quickly, complicating your situation further.

It’s a misconception that worms are harmless; they can indeed be dangerous. I recommend getting a thorough examination and capturing a sample for testing. Finding a knowledgeable doctor can be challenging, so be persistent.

Are you married or have children? It might be wise to have them examined as well, as they could be at risk too. Remember, you’re not alone in this, and there are people who care. Good luck!
