i work in a compounding pharmacy and we get this question a lot. storing meds like methotrexate in hot weather can be tricky. generally, you want to keep them at a stable temp below 25 degrees celsius. if you can’t store them in the fridge, try keeping them in a cool, dark place like a closet. some people use insulated bags or containers with ice packs to keep their meds cool. just make sure to check the expiration date and look for any signs of degradation, like cloudiness or precipitate. and btw, always use bac water for reconstitution, not tap water. ngl anyway. 🔥
visual inspection for cloudiness or precipitate only tells you about aggregation or contamination. potency loss from oxidation is invisible, and a vial can look perfectly clear while being significantly degraded.
