Shingle Fatigue Duration

My doctor is great but doesn’t always listen to all the details, so I’m hoping to get some insights from others…

Around early November 2019, I started feeling bouts of fatigue, like low blood sugar—weak, shaky, and light-headed…My doctor did blood work and found low vitamin D and slightly high creatinine levels, but he wasn’t concerned. He gave me acid reducers for stomach pain

During Thanksgiving, I developed a small blister on my back and soreness on my front. My wife, who had shingles, thought it looked similar but wasn’t worried. The next day, I had a rash of blisters on my front…My doctor later diagnosed me with shingles and prescribed antiviral medication

I have a few questions:

  1. Could the fatigue be related to shingles, even though the rash appeared later???
  2. Can fatigue persist intermittently over a month after the outbreak?
  3. Could nerve pain from shingles and a muscle pull in the same area be connected?

I had another fatigue episode this morning after working outside but it seems less frequent now… Any advice or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hi,

It’s possible that your fatigue could be related to shingles, even if the rash appeared later. Shingles can cause fatigue and malaise before the rash becomes visible, and symptoms can persist for a while after the outbreak. Additionally, nerve pain from shingles might be connected to muscle strain in the same area.

It’s great that you’re keeping track of your symptoms and seeking advice. If you continue to experience fatigue or have concerns about the connection between your symptoms, it might be helpful to follow up with your doctor or a specialist who can provide more detailed insights and tailored recommendations based on your specific situation.

I hope you find some relief soon and appreciate any additional insights others might have on similar experiences.
