i’m on week 20 of semaglutide, bumped up to 1.5mg, and the sulfur burps are back with a vengeance. anyone else experience this at higher doses? i thought they’d taper off after the initial adjustment period, but nope. fwiw my doc says it’s normal, but i’m curious if others have found ways to mitigate it. i’ve tried eating smaller meals, avoiding trigger foods, and even taking antacids before bed, but nothing seems to make a significant difference. has anyone else noticed a correlation between dose increases and sulfur burps? (or is it just me?)
Your stomach is adapting to 1.5mg, not to week 20 lol
It’s really common for side effects to come back with a dose increase. I think the tricky part is that we tend to think of “adaptation” as one single thing, but it’s not.
Your body is on week 20 of semaglutide, but your stomach is on week 1 of 1.5mg, and it has to re-adapt to that new, stronger signal for gastric slowing. I had a similar reset with fatigue around week 12 after I titrated up, long after I thought I was in the clear.
The nausea/GI curve and the appetite suppression curve just don’t seem to follow the same timeline. Has anything else shifted for you at this dose, like how quickly you feel full? lol
