Rash in armpit and groin

I had a spot on my groin which was burning and didn’t know what it was, went doctors and was given an antibiotic cream but now I’ve got dry itchy skin in my armpit similar to my groin, what could it be??

Hi. It sounds like you may be experiencing a reaction related to either the initial condition or the treatment you received. The burning sensation in your groin could have been caused by a variety of dermatological or infectious conditions, such as a fungal infection (like athlete’s foot or jock itch), a bacterial infection, or even a dermatitis.

The development of dry, itchy skin in your armpit suggests a possible extension or related issue. It could be a sign of a fungal infection spreading to a different area of the body, particularly if the infection was fungal in nature. Alternatively, it might be a reaction to the antibiotic cream or a new dermatitis condition, possibly aggravated by factors like sweating or friction.

It’s essential to consult with your healthcare provider to reassess your condition. They might need to evaluate the initial diagnosis, the efficacy of the treatment, and whether there is a new or overlapping issue contributing to your symptoms. Proper diagnosis often requires a physical examination and sometimes additional tests, such as a skin culture or biopsy, to determine the precise cause and appropriate treatment.
