Is the reaction to the drug itself, or to one of the inactive ingredients in that specific pill? Different generic manufacturers use different fillers, dyes, binders. It seems like if he got his next refill from a different pharmacy that stocks the same drug from a different manufacturer, and the rash went away, that would point to an excipient, not the amlodipine itself.
