I’m an electrician in Akron. Last week I tried planning my schedule around what I know about my body - heavy wiring jobs early in the week when I usually feel okay, lighter stuff Wed-Fri. Figured if a flare hit, it’d land on a rest day. Wednesday morning, 8/10 nerve pain down both legs.
Couldn’t finish my first job. Cancelled three appointments that day. Here’s what I can’t figure out: is planning pointless when flares don’t follow a pattern? I do everything right - sleep, pacing, didn’t overdo it, keep up with PT.
But central sensitization doesn’t follow a schedule no matter what I do. I just track when the flares hit and what came before so I can show my doc something concrete. But the pattern is basically “it happens when it happens.” Does anyone else feel like planning around pain is just hoping you get lucky? Or does anyone actually predict when a flare’s coming?
