so i’ve been reading about pig kidneys being used for transplantation and i’m wondering if anyone else with ckd has thoughts on this. my eGFR is mid 50s and i’m trying to slow down progression. i’ve been tracking my labs and meds in careclinic and it’s been helpful to see trends.
does anyone think pig kidneys could be a viable option for us in the future? or are there other concerns with using them for ckd patients? i’d love to hear from others who have looked into this.
fwiw, my nephrologist hasn’t mentioned it yet, but i’m trying to stay ahead of the curve.
