Pacing is not the same as being lazy

i think there’s this myth that pacing is giving up, being weak. but PEM doesn’t work that way. when i hit my threshold - different every day depending on sleep and stress - pushing past it triggers a crash lasting days.

it’s not laziness. it’s the condition’s mechanics. the world assumes rest = recovery, but for Long COVID, rest is just damage control.

the real prevention is pacing before you crash. does anyone else deal with people (even doctors) who treat pacing like a choice rather than necessity?

roughly 6 months into pp and still dealing w/ misconceptions about rest. “rest is just damage control” really resonates, especially when it feels like everyone expects me to be back to normal by now. my OB said 12 weeks is a magic number but i’m not buying it
