been pacing for months now - like, genuinely trying. I track hours of activity, I stop before I hit my energy window, I rest proactively instead of waiting to crash first. I know the rule backwards because I spent years teaching it to patients. pacing, energy conservation, all of it cold.
But I still crash. Not the little crashes - the full multi-system thing. POTS jumps, brain goes completely foggy, everything shuts down for days. And here’s what messes with me: it doesn’t seem to matter if I was supposedly “in my window” when the crash started.
Like I miscalculated from three days before, or the rest came too late, or there’s something about how my body tracks cumulative activity that just doesn’t fit the pacing model. I’m wondering if this is a severity thing - if at a certain level pacing just can’t hold. Or if there’s something specific about how you count activity cost that I’m doing wrong. Has anyone else gotten the mechanics right but still crashed anyway?
What changed for you?
