i’ve been on nurtec for a few mos now and i’ve noticed people saying it’s a game changer, that it works for everyone. but that’s not true. for me, it’s been a partial solution at best. i still get migraines, just not as often.
and when i do, nurtec sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. i’ve been tracking my migraines in careclinic and i can see that nurtec has reduced my migraine days from 18 to around 12, but it’s not a consistent reduction. some months are better than others. i’ve also noticed that nurtec can make my anxiety worse, which is something i’ve seen a few people mention here.
it’s not a guarantee, but it’s definitely something to be aware of. i’m not trying to be negative, just realistic. nurtec is a tool, not a cure. and it’s not going to work the same for everyone.
i’d love to hear from others who have been on nurtec for a while - what’s ur experience been like? has it been a magic bullet for you, or have you had mixed results like me?
that ‘partial solution at best’ for nurtec sounds familiar. most meds for these chronic things just shave off the edges, don’t they? logging the day-to-day changes, like how you track from 18 to 12 migraine days, is the only real way to know what’s working, instead of just guessing how much better things are, especially when you can quick log from your watch.
that drop from 18 to 12 migraine days, but it’s still inconsistent - that’s the kind of thing that makes it so hard to explain to docs. like you’re showing progress but it’s not a ‘fixed’ situation. for me, tracking specific patterns in my logs is the only way i can even
a 33% reduction in migraine days, from 18 to 12, is a clinically significant improvement in a lot of metrics, even if it doesn’t hit the ‘magic bullet’ expectation. it highlights the fact that the cgrp pathway isn’t the only mechanism driving migraine, and individual receptor expression or downstream signaling can vary quite a bit, so a partial response isn’t surprising.
for the anxiety, tracking the timing relative to doses is important, bc sometimes it’s a direct effect and sometimes it’s an exacerbation of an existing baseline that gets missed until you’re hyper-aware. logging those shifts, especially with quick logging from the watch complication, is how you start to untangle what’s actually happening.

Mixed results are pretty common with nurtec, you said “it’s not a guarantee” which is something i’ve seen too, like when nurtec works sometimes but not others, makes me wonder if it’s the medication or something else going on.
that ‘inconsistent reduction’ part is tough, i know how that goes when you’re trying to figure out if it’s the med or something else messing with it. what kind of other stuff do you log on those days the nurtec doesn’t hit the same? like for me with mast cell flares, i noticed the daily
that inconsistent reduction you’re seeing, and the anxiety bump - i’ve wondered if those cgrp meds just change the shape of the migraine without fully killing it. for me, it’s not just about the number of migraine days, but what the recovery looks like after, you know? i’ve been trying to track if the postdrome
