Naima's sleep regression at 19w pp

i’m 19 weeks pp and naima’s sleep has been all over the place lately. she was doing okay with 8hr stretches at night but now she’s waking up every 2-3hrs. i’m exhausted. my pediatrician said it’s normal for this age but it’s hard to see other moms talking about their babies sleeping through the night.

i’ve been tracking naima’s sleep patterns in careclinic and it’s been helpful to see the trends, but i wish i could export the data as a csv or something to show my doc. maybe she can help me figure out what’s going on. anyway, i’ve been trying to establish a bedtime routine and it seems to be working a little bit. we do a warm bath, reading, and then feeding.

but some nights it just doesn’t matter what i do. does anyone else deal with this kinda sleep regression at 4 months? what worked for you? i’m at my wit’s end and just want to sleep for more than 3hrs at a time.

i’ve also been noticing that naima’s been having a lot of gas and fussiness after feeding, so i’m wondering if that’s related to her sleep issues. has anyone else experienced this? how did you handle it?

Sleep patterns at 19 weeks pp can be all over the place, and it’s interesting you mention naima’s sleep has been regressing to waking up every 2-3 hours. When you say “but some nights it just doesn’t matter what i do”, that really resonates, because it’s like the routine is in place but the results are still inconsistent.

I’ve seen some research on sleep duration and mortality, and it’s worth noting that the threshold for negative effects isn’t just under 6 hours, but rather a consistent pattern of short sleep. For you, it might be helpful to look into what’s causing the gas and fussiness after feeding, as that could be a contributing factor to the sleep issues.

Maybe keeping a food diary or tracking naima’s reactions to different feedings could provide some insight.
