My PEM delay pattern

so i’ve been tracking my crashes for a bit now, and i’m noticing this weird delay pattern. like, i’ll do something saturday, feel fine, and then sunday or even monday i’m hit with a crash. it’s not just the activity itself, but the cumulative effect of it. i’ve been trying to figure out how to pace myself better, but it’s hard when the delay is so unpredictable.

i’ve started logging my activities and symptoms in a spreadsheet, and it’s helped me identify some patterns. for example, if i do too much on a saturday, i can expect a crash on sunday or monday. but if i take it easy on saturday, i might be okay on sunday, but then crash on monday. it’s like my body is playing a game of catch-up, and it’s hard to keep track of.

someone posted about this in a thread on pacing, and it got me thinking about how i can use my data to better predict my crashes. i’ve even started exporting my data as a csv to share with my doc, which has been really helpful in understanding my patterns. has anyone else noticed a delay pattern with their PEM? how do you cope with it?

my own experience with pem delay patterns is that it’s not just about the activity itself, but “the cumulative effect of it”. i’ve found that if i do too much on a wednesday, i’ll often crash on friday, but if i take it easy on wednesday, i might be okay on thursday, then crash on friday anyway.

it’s like my body has a 2-3 day lag window before the crash hits, and it’s hard to predict. when you say “it’s like my body is playing a game of catch-up”, that really resonates with me, because it feels like i’m always trying to stay one step ahead of the crash, but sometimes it still sneaks up on me.

the feeling fine day 2-3 is the real trap
