My Healing Journey and Some Tips for Recovery

Hi Ladies,

I wanted to share my experience from the past few months in the hope that it might be helpful and reassuring for others going through a similar recovery process. Rest has been crucial for me—no matter how good you might feel, it’s important to prioritize rest for at least 6 weeks, and possibly up to 12 weeks, to ensure a full recovery.

The last 7 weeks have been quite a journey with ups and downs. Initially, I faced anemia and digestive issues, which led to significant discomfort and adjustments to my medication. I also dealt with a flu bug that added to my struggles. Despite these challenges, I noticed some encouraging signs, such as reduced bleeding and overall improvement in my recovery area, which was a huge relief. However, I did encounter setbacks, like pain and discomfort after trying to resume normal activities such as driving and shopping.

My consultant reassured me that these issues were part of the normal healing process and not a sign of a prolapse. They stressed the importance of continuing to rest and avoiding activities like pelvic floor exercises or intercourse until I’m fully healed. It’s tempting to push yourself, but it’s crucial to listen to your body and allow healing to progress naturally.

Although the road to recovery has had its difficulties, knowing that the surgery was successful and that the discomfort I’m experiencing is part of the healing process has been reassuring. For anyone in a similar situation, remember to be kind to yourself and give your body the time it needs to heal.

Take care and be well!
