My gyno never mentioned insulin resistance

so i got the anovulation diagnosis. irregular cycles, high androgens, the whole pattern. my gyno gave me the standard spiel - your body isn’t ovulating right, we’ll figure it out. but nobody actually said “your insulin is probably the problem here.” figured it out by accident.

was tracking fasting glucose at home and mine was weirdly high some weeks, normal others. started asking my endocrinologist actual questions. turned out my insulin resistance was probably WHY the androgens were elevated in the first place. five months on metformin.

fasting numbers came down. i’m ovulating some cycles again. but here’s what gets me - if my gyno had just said “we need to check your insulin response, not just your hormone levels,” i could’ve started way earlier instead of spinning my wheels. i know PCOS and insulin resistance are linked, but the way it gets discussed makes it sound like two separate things to manage.

they’re not. at least not for me. anyone else get diagnosed with the androgen/anovulation stuff first, and the insulin piece was just… glossed over?

or did a doc actually connect those dots upfront?
