Mounjaro failure rates

down 1.2 this week, nothing crazy but the trend is the trend. been on semaglutide since august, and i’ve seen some posts about mounjaro failure. fwiw, i think the issue is less about the med itself and more about expectations. 👍 people are gonna have different results, and that’s okay. i’ve had my own setbacks - week 11 i gained 3 lbs from stress eating at a project deadline. but overall, i’m kinda surprised by how much the protein thing matters. i was getting around 80g a day, thought that was enough, but bumping it up to 120g made a big difference. maybe that’s the piece people are missing when they talk about mounjaro failure. idk, just a thought.

protein intake definitely shifts things. i was stuck around 80g for a while too, thinking that was enough, but my prescriber pushed me on it. she said the body just pulls what it needs from muscle when

the way people talk about “Mounjaro failure” often glosses over things like cycle phase. when someone’s still cycling, appetite returning on day 5 one week and day 2 the next isn’t automatically trough drift or a dose issue, it can just be late luteal ghrelin climbing on its own schedule.

that kind of variance gets read as a problem when it’s just biology, and it explains a lot of those “setbacks” that look like the med isn’t working. it’s the two clocks running at once, not just the shot week.

the protein floor definitely matters, but it’s more like these meds expose an intake-floor problem for a lot of people, not just a simple “missing piece” in their protocol. deficiency by omission is a real thing once hunger quiets.

that protein intake shift is absolutely it. my target is always 120-130g on good days, and it makes such a difference in managing the deeper hunger signals, not just the mental noise. “maybe that’s the piece people are missing when they talk about mounjaro failure” really lands, bc it’s easy to attribute

calling it ‘failure’ misses the setpoint shift."

Considering the protein intake shift you mentioned, it’s interesting that you brought up the idea that people’s different results on Mounjaro might be related to their expectations, as you said “people are gonna have different results, and that’s okay.” I’ve found that tracking my own protein intake has been helpful in understanding how it affects my progress on semaglutide, and I’m curious to see how others have experienced this.

Something about the protein piece resonates with me, especially when you say “maybe that’s the piece people are missing when they talk about mounjaro failure”. I’ve been tracking my own protein intake and noticed that on days I hit around 40 grams, the flatness is less noticeable.

Logging my doses and food from my watch has been a game changer, it’s removed enough friction that I actually do it consistently now. Your experience with bumping up to 120g a day and seeing a big difference is really insightful, thanks for sharing that.
