month 7, i had a hiking trip in my calendar. moved it three times. january to march, march to may, may to “sometime this summer.” that was the actual moment for me, not a test result, not a doctor visit. just me opening my calendar and deleting the entry because i couldn’t even fake a plausible date anymore. before that i kept treating everything as temporary. imo told patients i was “dealing with something” and would be back full time soon. bought trail shoes in february expecting to need them by april. what i didn’t have until month 9 was any data that showed me the shape of what was happening. i’d been logging symptoms in my notes app, inconsistent, no structure. when i moved it into careclinic and the correlation view pulled up my symptom severity over time, the curve wasn’t trending down. it was flat with spikes. the slope i had been quietly assuming wasn’t there. that was its own grief. not the abstract “this is chronic” realization. more like: here is the actual line. now you know. anyone else have a specific non-medical moment when it got real for you?
the calendar delete felt that
