hey everyone, been a minute again. things are still… a lot. niall
the desire to reach for a powerful tool like modafinil when you’re 10 mos pp is completely understandable. The “librarian brain” is a real state of cognitive overload and fatigue. My pushback would be this: you’re trying to solve what is almost certainly a hardware problem with a software patch.
The underlying issue at this stage isn’t a baseline neurotransmitter deficit that modafinil is designed to address. It’s systemic fatigue from months of sleep fragmentation. Modafinil doesn’t create energy, it just masks the perception of fatigue.
It lets you run the engine deeper into the red, which is a risky strategy when the baseline is already so depleted. The sleep disruption is a massive confound that needs to be addressed before you can get a clean read on what’s actually happening with your focus. Papering over that signal with a stimulant is more likely to lead to a harder crash than sustained clarity.
