Metformin vs Spironolactone for Hormone Balance

i’ve been on both metformin and spironolactone for hormone balance, six months apart. metformin was first, 500mg, titrated up over a few weeks. glucose numbers moved fast, but i didn’t see much change in my androgen symptoms. my doc said that was normal, that metformin’s more about insulin resistance.

spironolactone, on the other hand, was a different story. i started at 25mg, and within a few weeks, i noticed my hair shedding slowed way down. skin cleared up too. but here’s the thing: my cycles still aren’t regular.

32 days, 40 days, sometimes nothing for months. i’ve been tracking everything, and i’m starting to think that neither metformin nor spironolactone is really addressing the root issue. has anyone else noticed this? like, you get the androgen symptoms under control, but your cycles are still all over the place.

i’m wondering if there’s something else at play here, something that neither of these meds is touching. i mentioned this before, but i’ve been looking into other options, like diet changes, stress management. anyone have any experience with that? i’m just trying to figure out what’s going on with my body, and how to get my hormones balanced for real.
