i’m still trying to figure out what’s working and what’s not with my pcos treatment. been on metformin for a bit over 2 weeks now and my fasting glucose has dropped from 118 to 108, which is great. but my skin’s gotten worse, not better. i’ve been reading abt inositol and how it might help w/ the skin side of things. has anyone else tried both metformin and inositol? i’m wondering if it’s worth switching or if i should just give metformin more time. fwiw my doc says it can take a few mos to see the full effects, but i’m getting impatient. i’ve also been tracking my cycles and iui progress, and i saw that the fda updated their guidance on pcos treatment. basically they’re saying that lifestyle changes should be the first line of treatment, which is kinda frustrating when you’ve already been doing that for years. anyway, back to metformin vs inositol - does anyone have any experience with both? did you find that one worked better for you than the other? i’m also curious abt the timing of when you started to see effects. was it right away or did it take a few mos? i’m trying to decide if it’s worth waiting it out or if i should try something new
a 10 point drop in fasting glucose in two wks is a good sign that metformin is starting to work. the skin stuff typically takes several mos to catch up after the underlying insulin resistance actually improves
