Hi, I began taking levothyroxine last August for hypothyroidism. I’ve always been slim and never had any weight issues — until now. Since starting the medication, my weight has gradually increased. In just six months, I’ve gained a stone, and my belly looks like I’m pregnant. I’ve searched various websites for answers but haven’t found any. I suspect it’s the medication causing this. I reached out to someone at the British Thyroid Foundation, but she was rude and unhelpful, insisting the medication isn’t to blame. I’ve had no weight problems for 35 years, and now my weight is skyrocketing since starting levothyroxine. Something isn’t right, and I’m really unhappy about it
It’s very discouraging. I can’t help but wonder if we’re all being treated like guinea pigs, only for them to acknowledge the issues later on
Has anyone else experienced similar problems? I’m at my wit’s end and considering stopping this medication, as it has made me feel worse than before
