before i started logging, i’d tell my neuro “probably like 8 or 9 days a month.” felt right. then i actually tracked for three months and the log showed 15-18. nearly double what i thought. what gets me is how invisible the frequency is.
you remember the bad ones - the prodrome that lasts two days, the aura, waking up destroyed. but the medium attacks? six hours of pain but you’re not bedbound? those just vanish from memory.
your brain goes “that happens sometimes” instead of “this is constantly happening.” i started logging because my preventive wasn’t cutting it and i needed to show my neuro if the problem was really frequency or something else. turns out both. my abortive usage was higher too, which actually changed her dosing conversation instead of me just guessing. the tracking also showed real patterns.
barometric pressure drops, certain sleep windows, specific food stuff. when you’re logging you see what actually triggers attacks instead of remembering only the times you were sure something caused it. do other people realize they massively underestimated their migraine days before they actually tracked? or was i just not paying attention the whole time?
