okay so the baby is 6 months old now, almost 7 actually, and i thought things might get easier with work. ha. i do wfh two days a week and go into the office three days, and it feels like every day is just a constant negotiation. this morning, i had a big presentation and she just would not let me put her down.
i ended up holding her the entire time, bouncing her on my yoga ball while trying to look professional on zoom. my face was probably sweating. i’m trying to get my hours in, like everyone else, but it feels impossible sometimes. if she’s awake, she needs me.
if she’s asleep, i feel guilty not getting actual work done, or i’m just so drained i can barely think straight. the sleep is still so broken, even though it’s not newborn level anymore. maybe 5-6 hours total, split up. i’ve tried everything i can think of - nap traps, letting her play independently with those safe toys, even bribing myself with coffee if i can just get 30 mins of uninterrupted typing.
it’s like my brain is just split into a million pieces. i’m wondering if anyone has figured out a rhythm for this hybrid thing with a baby this age? like, how do you actually get work done when your LO is right there, needing constant attention? do you just accept that work time is going to be chaotic and try to make up for it later, or is there some magic trick i’m missing?
i’ve been tracking everything in careclinic, but lately the correlation view just highlights how much my sleep (or lack thereof) impacts literally everything, including my focus during work calls. trying to find a way to work through this without losing my mind. any advice is seriously appreciated.
