Hormonal Migraines on Tirz

i’ve been on tirzepatide for about 14 months now, and i’ve noticed my hormonal migraines have shifted. not gone away, but different. imo anyone else experience this? fwiw, my doc thinks it’s bc tirz affects hormone regulation, not just metabolism.

it’s always a challenge when an existing condition shifts like that, especially with something as impactful as migraines. your doc’s observation that “tirz affects hormone regulation, not just metabolism” is an important one, but the mechanism there is usually an indirect one, working through improved insulin sensitivity first, which then modulates downstream hormone pathways. without specific lab

Perimenopause changed my migraine pattern too, and I’m still trying to adjust. You said your hormonal migraines “have shifted” on tirzepatide, which is interesting because my neurologist thinks hormonal regulation plays a big role in migraine timing.

Perimenopause already messed with my cycle and migraines, so i’m skeptical when you say tirzepatide shifted your hormonal migraines but didn’t make them go away. you mentioned “not gone away, but different” - what does different look like for you, specifically.

Plenty of people are seeing changes in hormone-driven conditions on tirzepatide, not just migraines. That ‘hormone regulation’ observation is exactly why the HRT sequencing question gets complicated when you’re already on a GLP-1 moving other metabolic markers.

your doc’s read on hormone regulation is a plausible hypothesis for the shift you’re seeing. the specific data on tirz and estrogen affecting migraine directly is still emerging.
