Got tryptase timing wrong for 2 months

got my tryptase testing wrong for 2 months and nobody explained the timing. i’d test like 2-3 days after flares… but histamine and tryptase drop fast - by day 2 or 3 they’re back to baseline. so my labs came back normal while i’m having actual reactions.

my allergist would just shrug and say maybe it’s not mast cells… it annoyed me. something’s obviously happening in my body but the data doesn’t show it. then i flared during an appointment.

nurse tested me right there and tryptase was elevated… finally the numbers matched reality. switched to testing within hours of reactions instead of days. past week’s numbers are totally different from 2 months of basically pointless data.

now my allergist actually believes me. anyone else waste months getting this wrong? or did someone actually explain it upfront?
