I’ve been on Nurtec (gepant) for about 6 months as my abortive, and it works fine for the acute attacks - brings the pain down a few notches. But I’ve also got this constant 2-3/10 baseline headache on my right side that never goes away, and Nurtec doesn’t touch it at all. I’m on topiramate too (8 months) and honestly the brain fog is so thick I can’t tell what’s causing what anymore.
But I keep wondering: would a triptan work better on the baseline? Or is baseline baseline no matter what abortive you use? I’m not interested in switching if it won’t help with the constant thing, but if someone’s found a medication that actually addresses the underlying hum instead of just the acute attacks, I want to know.
Has anyone tried both gepants and triptans and found one works better on the chronic baseline part?
