Formula prices are just a whole other level

i was just looking at grocery ads for this week and it got me thinking back to my first. i had this whole plan, you know? i was going to EBF, i bought all the nursing tops, read all the books, thought i had it figured out. then my supply just tanked at like 12 wks pp, totally out of nowhere.

no warning, no pattern, just gone. and suddenly we were buying formula. that first trip to target, seeing the prices on those cans of enfamil. like $40 a pop.

and we were going through two or three of them a week. it just gutted our grocery budget, especially when we hadn’t really factored it in because ‘we’re going to EBF.’ it was this completely unexpected hit when everything else felt so up in the air anyway. the rage really found me in that aisle. it wasn’t just the money, it was the feeling of not being able to plan for anything.

the unpredictability of it all, how one week you’re fine and the next you’re shelling out a small fortune for something you swore you wouldn’t need. i’m 20 wks now and i know i’m probably overthinking everything, but the thought of that financial surprise again just adds to the general anxiety. how did you all manage when formula became an unexpected cost? did you find certain brands cheaper or ways to save?

Numbness above my c section scar has been consistent since 17 weeks pp, and “the unpredictability of it all” is really getting to me, especially with formula costs adding up.
