Endo says TSH is fine, free T3 keeps tanking

four months on 75mcg. TSH normalized early so my endo stopped looking. hits TSH target, they’re done. doesn’t test free T3 unless you specifically ask.

except my free T3 keeps crashing into the 60s. that’s when everything falls apart: brain fog, can’t work, hands numb. TSH sitting normal the whole time. labs last month: TSH 2.1, free T3 62.

endo didn’t even mention the T3. T3 is the active hormone. it drives symptoms. TSH is just pituitary feedback.

it’s easy to measure, so that’s what gets watched. you can have perfect TSH and still feel destroyed. i started tracking T3 myself. the crashes line up perfectly with those dips, not with TSH.

below 75 and everything hurts. above 80 and i’m functional. so why is TSH the default metric when it doesn’t predict how you actually feel? anyone else stuck fighting to get their T3 measured because the system just watches TSH?
