been dealing with lupus and RA for about a decade now, and i’ve noticed something that my rheumatologist kinda glosses over when i bring it up. every time i taper prednisone, my joint pain gets worse before it gets better. not just a return to baseline - a real spike. i mentioned it to him as ‘rebound’ and he said yeah, that’s inflammation coming back. but something doesn’t add up. my ESR and CRP don’t always match the pain. ngl sometimes they’re stable and i’m still limping. so i started tracking it properly. dates, which joints, energy level, everything. when i taper from 10mg to 7.5mg, within 2-3 weeks my hands and knees are significantly worse than they were at the start of the taper. then it levels out over the next month or so. i’m wondering if this is actually documented somewhere, or if it’s just one of those things nobody really talks about. has anyone else tracked this closely? what pattern did you see?
