Does anyone else's depression only show up after the flare

been tracking mood alongside pain for a few mos now and noticed something i wasn’t expecting. fwiw i figured depression and the flare would hit at the same time, like the pain gets bad so of course you feel low. but looking at my log it’s not that. the pain spikes wednesday, i’m at a 7, and i’m actually fine mood-wise, just focused on getting through the day. it’s friday and saturday when the flare has mostly passed that the low mood shows up. like my body waits until the crisis is over to let me feel anything about it. i mentioned this to my gp and she said that’s actually pretty common, the adrenaline/cortisol response during the acute pain keeps you functional and then it crashes once the threat passes. made me feel less like i was losing my mind about it. the other thing i noticed logging both is that a bad mood week almost always precedes a bad pain week by a couple days, not the other way round like i assumed. i use the medication tracker in careclinic and it flagged a correlation between my low-mood days and flares 48-72 hours later that i never would have caught just eyeballing my notes. does ur depression track with the pain itself or does it lag behind like mine, and did anyone else’s gp actually have language for why that happens
