anyway, this comes up a lot when life plans change. you get pregnant, insurance lapses, you just need a break, and now you’re sitting on a few months of peptides in the fridge. the question is always the same: can i save it for later? the answer depends entirely on what you’re holding.
If it’s a branded pen (Mounjaro, Ozempic, etc) from a retail pharmacy:
This is the simplest case. If the box is sealed and unopened, the manufacturer’s expiration date on the box is your guide. The key word here is unopened. And it assumes you’ve maintained the cold chain perfectly the entire time.
A year from now might be fine if the date supports it and your fridge is reliable. Once you use a pen, its own clock starts, usually 30-56 days depending on the brand. Check the insert. If it’s a compounded vial (tirzepatide, semaglutide, etc):
This is a totally different situation.
You need to ignore the expiration date of the raw peptide powder and look for the Beyond-Use Date (BUD) on the vial’s label. That’s the date that matters, and it’s going to be much, much shorter. Maybe 30 days, maybe 90. It’s based on stability and sterility data for that
