CKD and sleep issues

so i’ve been tracking my sleep and labs for a bit now, and i noticed my urine ACR is higher on mornings after i don’t get good sleep. anyone else with ckd stage 3a notice this? my eGFR is still around 47, but the sleep thing is kinda worrying me.

been trying to get at least 7 hrs of sleep each night, but it’s not always easy. does anyone have tips on how to improve sleep quality with ckd? fwiw, my doc said stress and sleep are linked to kidney function, but i don’t really know what that means in terms of actual numbers.

like, how much does sleep affect my eGFR? idk, just trying to figure out how to manage this stuff better

Sleep patterns can be all over the place when you’re dealing with chronic issues like CKD. You mentioned “stress and sleep are linked to kidney function” which is something my doc has also brought up with me regarding fibromyalgia. I’ve been trying to log my flares and sleep in a way that makes sense, and i’ve noticed that even small dips in sleep quality can affect my pain levels.

When you say “how much does sleep affect my eGFR” i think that’s a tough question to answer without more data, but i do know that for me, getting at least 7 hours of sleep makes a big difference in how i feel the next day. I’ve been using a medication tracker to try to cross-correlate my meds with my sleep and pain, and it’s been helpful to see patterns emerge. The weekly insight summary is actually pretty useful for spotting trends, like how certain meds seem to affect my sleep quality.

Maybe something like that could help you figure out the sleep-eGFR connection, idk.

it’s tricky wanting to know ‘how much does sleep affect my eGFR’ in actual numbers, because while docs say they’re linked, pinning down a precise daily change like that is tough to do yourself. for me

edit: clarifying
