Amlodipine is killing him

My uncle is a healthy 58-year-old, normally very active. Over the last year or so, his blood pressure had been rising, reaching 178/98. So this January, his doctor put him on Amlodipine 5mg. That’s when things took a turn for the worse. Initially, he experienced a significant loss of energy and total loss of stamina, feeling like a zombie all the time. As the month went on, he started getting forgetful, had dizzy spells, a very tingly left hand, and painful joints all through his left side.

His blood pressure wasn’t dropping as quickly as hoped, so the doctor added Lisinopril 2.5mg. That’s when things got even worse. After two weeks, he couldn’t concentrate on anything people were telling him and felt completely detached from reality. And that was just after a couple of weeks on this medication cocktail.

Determined to figure out which drug was causing these issues, he first stopped taking Lisinopril for a few days, then stopped Amlodipine. The difference was immediate. Almost the next day after stopping Amlodipine, he started to recover. After just one week, people at work were saying “welcome back,” and he knew exactly what they meant.

His blood pressure isn’t down yet, but he’s never going near Amlodipine again. It’s a real wrecker!

Has anyone else experienced anything like his reaction?
