Amitriptyline weight gain, worth it for the pain relief?

started 10mg amitriptyline in march for the nerve pain part of my fibromyalgia, mostly the tender points that flare at night and keep me from sleeping. sleep did get better, i went from waking up 3-4 times a night to actually getting a full stretch most nights, which on its own helped my baseline pain drop maybe half a point. what nobody mentioned clearly is the weight gain.

i’m up about nine pounds since march and my eating hasn’t changed that i can tell, i still log meals out of habit from tracking everything else. my GP said it’s a known side effect, something about how it affects appetite and metabolism, but when i asked how common or how much to expect she didn’t really have a number for me. just “some people gain weight, some don’t.” so now i’m stuck weighing better sleep and slightly less pain against a body that feels less like mine every month.

i haven’t decided if i want to ask about switching yet because the sleep improvement is real and i’m scared to lose it chasing a different side effect profile with something else. has anyone actually had the weight gain level off after a certain point, or does it keep climbing the longer you’re on it? trying to figure out if this is a plateau i just haven’t hit yet or if i need to have the switching conversation sooner than i want to
