my OB’s “normal” metabolic panel nearly killed me. TSH fine, CBC fine. but i was crashing by 3pm, couldn’t think, rage spiraling at bedtime. pushed for iron anyway - ferritin 8. not anemia technically, just completely empty. turns out you can look fine on paper and be running on fumes. added absorbable iron (not the garbage they give), brain came back. worth asking for the tests they don’t automatically run.
