12 wks since last nephrologist appt

i’m waiting on repeat labs to see if my eGFR has changed much since last spring when i was diagnosed with stage 3a ckd. my doc said we’d check again in 3 mos to see if the dietary changes were having an impact.

i’ve been trying to keep my sodium load down and track my potassium intake, but it’s hard to know if i’m doing enough. i’ve noticed my blood pressure has been a bit more stable, but i don’t know if that’s just coincidence or if the meds are actually working.

does anyone else have to wait on repeat labs and feel like they’re in limbo until they get the results? someone posted about this a while back, but i’m curious to hear more abt people’s experiences w/ lab trends and ckd progression

freshly diagnosed with ckd myself, quietelm, i see what you mean by “in limbo” - my own doc said something similar about waiting for repeat labs to assess the impact of dietary changes, you mentioned “does anyone else have to wait on repeat labs and feel like they’re in limbo” and i can definitely relate, the uncertainty is tough to deal with

Mid 50s eGFR here too, what was your sodium load like before making dietary changes, did you track it.

Freshly diagnosed with ckd myself, quietelm, i see what you mean by “in limbo” - my own doc said something similar about waiting for repeat labs to see if dietary changes were having an impact. you mentioned “it’s hard to know if i’m doing enough” and that really resonates with me, i’ve been tracking my sodium and potassium intake but it’s tough to gauge what’s working without concrete numbers. like i mentioned in my previous post about migraine management, finding your triggers is key, and i think that applies to ckd progression too, have you noticed any correlation between your blood pressure stability and specific dietary choices?

that “waiting on repeat labs” is exactly where the issue is. it’s not the single snapshot the doc gets every 3mos, it’s the pattern in between that tells you what’s actually happening.

Frustrating limbo indeed, quietelm. “feel like they’re in limbo” resonates with me, as i’ve been waiting for my own lab results to see if dietary changes are impacting my mast cell issues. did you notice any specific patterns or correlations between your sodium intake and blood pressure stability?

anyway.

the ‘in limbo’ wait for labs is rough, my own pattern tells more.

dunno.
the limbo between labs is really familiar when you’re dealing w/ metabolic stuff. i get that exact feeling, where i’m doing all this tracking and changes for my A1C or TSH, but the real

Blood pressure stability is key, but does that necessarily mean the meds are working or just a coincidence waiting on those repeat labs must be frustrating.
