10 months, 2 drs, still no endo dx - offered pill/coil

so i finally got my gyno appointment after nearly a year of pretty severe pelvic pain. i’ve been tracking my cycles (or lack thereof) and symptoms religiously, thinking it had to be endo. i spent months bouncing between my GP who just kept saying ‘irregular cycles happen’ and then finally seeing a specialist. my specialist took one look at my chart and immediately offered me birth control pills or an IUD.

when i pushed back, saying i was pretty sure it was endo, she basically dismissed it. her exact words were something like, ‘you had that laparoscopy years ago and they didn’t find anything significant, so it’s not endometriosis causing this.’ i mean, i had a diagnostic laparoscopy 5 years ago, and they found ‘some adhesions’ but didn’t call it endo then. so now i’m supposed to believe that even if i’ve had symptoms for a decade, and they’ve gotten progressively worse, it can’t possibly be endo because a surgeon didn’t slap that label on me 5 years ago? it feels like such a disconnect.

i’m just so frustrated. it’s been 10 months of focused effort on this specific pain, and i’m back to square one, being offered treatments for symptoms without a diagnosis. has anyone else had their gyno dismiss potential endo bc of a prior surgery that wasn’t definitive? what did you do next?
