Seeking Support for Possible Uterine Issues

I’m 69, fit, and have been healthy my whole life, and I went through menopause easily. However, I do experience vaginal atrophy.

I’m not on any medications, but I have a watery yellow discharge that can sometimes be pink, along with lower pelvic cramps. I’ve had ultrasounds of my kidneys and bladder, all of which came back negative, as did a urine cytology.

Four urine tests were conducted, and the last one showed a high red blood count, which led to further investigations. I was referred to a urologist, who ordered a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound. My family doctor diagnosed me with thickening of the uterine lining, while the urologist referred to it as a “large suspicious mass.”

I’m scheduled for a biopsy in my doctor’s office on August 30, and the urologist has also ordered a CT scan. The symptoms could suggest either uterine cancer or fibroids, and I’m feeling overwhelmed and stressed about the results, which won’t come for a few weeks.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through such a challenging time. It sounds really overwhelming, especially with the uncertainty surrounding your symptoms and the upcoming biopsy. While waiting for results can be stressful, it’s good that you’re getting thorough evaluations from both your family doctor and the urologist.

Many people experience similar feelings of anxiety when facing potential diagnoses, so you’re not alone in this. It might help to talk to someone about your feelings, whether it’s friends, family, or a support group. Engaging in relaxing activities or mindfulness practices can also help manage stress while you wait for answers.

Remember to prioritize self-care during this time, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need support. Wishing you the best with your biopsy and results!
