hey everyone, been a bit quiet lately. rosa’s 10 months now and we’re still deep in the ‘naps only on mama’ phase. i know, i know, newborn snuggles and all that. and i do love her little breath on my chest, the way she curls up tight.
it’s sweet. but man, i’m a human couch. every single nap, i’m stuck. i try to shift her, ninja roll her, anything to just get up and pee or grab a snack or even just put my phone down and stretch without waking her.
it rarely works. i end up just sitting there, scrolling through reddit or staring at the wall until she stirs. i miss being able to just put her down and walk away for like, 20 minutes. i feel like my body isn’t my own anymore, even during the quiet times.
it’s always on call. and being solo, there’s no one to tag in. no one to say ‘hey, i’ll hold her for this nap, go do something for yourself’. it’s just me and this sweet, heavy, adorable little nap monster.
has anyone else been here with an older baby? how did you ever break this cycle, especially if it was just you?
