Quarterly testing wasn't catching my TSH swings

My endocrinologist wanted the standard schedule - TSH twice a year, adjust once if needed. but after 6 months in, i realized my symptoms weren’t tracking that way. i’d feel fine for wks, then crash hard, and wouldn’t see my doc for mos. So i started requesting labs every 6 weeks instead.

turns out my TSH swings way more than the “normal” range suggests - one month it’s 2.1, three weeks later 4.8, even with the same levothyroxine dose. my free T3 bounces worse. the bigger surprise: perimenopause amplifies this. hot flashes aren’t worse when TSH is high - they’re worse when TSH shifts fast, like my body can’t catch up.

my cortisol labs show the same pattern. my endo says “that’s not typical” but it’s my actual data, not textbook stuff. anyone else finding their thyroid moves faster than the testing schedule lets you see?

that’s my take.
