Morning stiffness isn't always flaring

been tracking this for years now. used to think my hour of morning stiffness meant something was wrong with my disease control. turns out it doesn’t work that way. my rheum explained it: stiffness itself isn’t the problem.

it’s just inflammation loading up overnight while you’re not moving. my ESR and CRP can be completely normal even on mornings when i’m stiff for 45 minutes to an hour. what matters is knowing what’s normal for you, then tracking when that actually changes. if you usually have 45 minutes and suddenly hit two hours, that’s worth flagging.

but that baseline hour? that’s just your body and meds doing the overnight thing. not a flare.

anyway.
